Neeraj Chopra is India's biggest medal hope after winning gold in Tokyo Olympics.

Olympic golden boy javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has won the silver medal in the final of the World Athletics Championship being played in Eugene, USA.

He was up against Anderson Peters of Granada. Anderson made two consecutive throws in the final for more than 90 meters. With this, he won the gold medal in the final with the best throw of 90.54.

Neeraj's first and fifth attempts were fouls but in his fourth attempt, he created history by throwing a javelin 88.13 meters away and won the silver medal.

Neeraj has given India the first medal in this championship after 2003.

Earlier, India had a bronze medal in World Athletics, which came in the long jump at the 2003 Paris Championships.

Another Indian player Rohit Yadav was out of the medal race in the final, staying at number 10.

After the victory, Neeraj said that I am very happy with Silver. He said that there was no separate strategy. There was a very good throw in the qualification round. Every day is different. We don't always get the results we think, but it was a tough fight, we came back and won silver.
